The Seed : Beggar (mp3 snippet)

Following my new years resolution to do more collabs...I did a collab!!

"The Seed" is a collective of musicians put together by Bass player/producer Jack Blundell with the aim to encourage LIVE Pop/Hip Hop/Soul RnB in the Uk. Jack hooked up with me and shax after seeing shax on myspace and seeing him perform. I met Jack personally when I did the shoreditch performance a couple weeks ago (See my "shoreditch encore" post).

Basically, he sent a song (the beat done by live musicians including himself) to shax who wrote a verse and chorus for it, then sent it to me - I wrote a verse for it too and sent Jack a rough copy. Jack was happy with it so we all hooked up at my house on the weekend to record the song - unfortunately, I didnt record much of the session in terms of video but you can listen to the final product...ive included my LYRICS below (I remembered today that I loved reading lyrics in album inlays - downloads take that away...thought id use the net to bring that back)

Anyway...enjoy and rap along!!

The Seed ft Shax and Incisive: Beggar (Snippet)

Incisive Beggar Lyrics:

"Yea babes, ill be there babes"/Thats what he says
And she smiles, says "Ok"/and drops the phone
Then he prays like "Oh god!"/cause he is prone/to misbehave
See he aint going nowhere, no how,/no way HOSEI!
Already got an excuse/ to make it A-Ok
And shes all ready to introduce/dudes to pops and mums
Playing with her food/twidiling her thumbs
Looking at her watch/but he's watching the game
I tried to tell her/but she aint clocking his game
and you cant hate a bredda/hot on his game
He's got the ball/so when she gets home, its nutmeg
See - a text is all he needs to execute/his excuse
"My batt died-tried to get this charged
but she just got discharged/i couldnt leave my marge.
hope your parents didnt mind-plan to do another time -
honest, promise. xxxxxxxx"

After you've rapped along, listen to the FULL version here (trust me, its worth it!)

All Night Long...(free mp3)

Sup people,

So I realised today that ive been taking too long to update my blog. I guess to keep people really interested and to get them to check it everyday, I gotta update it everyday. Its not really practical to do this due to either my busy schedule - or because I just cant think of what to post - Dunno if you've noticed but I like to add a video or song (that I personally made) with every post so if I havent got anything new - I dont really post.

Ive been sitting here for most of the evening and now all of the night trying to find something to post but then realised that I spoil you - most bloggers just write stuff and dont neccessarily post content or those who do, normally post content that not even bloody there own and is available on 100 other blog pages - so why am I searching my brain and hard drive to upload new content - do you know how long these videos I upload take to edit!?!?!?

Anyway...I guess ill update you with whats going on - still pushing "Release" - my lead single/album - the video and single so look out for that - video is taking longer than expected to surface but these things happen.....the radio side is not bad though...couple people call me a couple times a week saying that "YOU'RE ON THE RADIO" which is cool - even though they normally call me when im at work so I answer with my mad work voice, talking all funny like "oh...really...that is excellent...speak to you more about it later"....

err what else....oh yea...

Im thinking of reorganising strategy again and put out a mixtape...a FREE mixtape..and then the album. After having new artist Drakes "So far gone" free mixtape on heavy rotation (Listen Here)- im not sure I can justify selling a mixtape - his mixtape is better than most albums I have heard in the last couple years - real talk - check that out if you can - its a free download.

Speaking of free download - I guess I cant post without giving you something....

Incisive & Hazardous : All Night Long (Produced by Nutty P)

The story behind this is as follows....

You may or may not know that I have been making music for like ever....like since I was 9 (1993...) I was actually RECORDING songs...(I find that impressive and pathetic at the same time - like..."wow you been making music for time!!!...you still aint blown??!")..anyway...ive done countless random songs but in terms of actual albums put together 3 ACTUAL albums with the guy I used to rap with (Hazardous) so these albums/mixtapes I put out this year will be my 4th and 5th studio albums. (I know its alot of stuff but my earliest stuff wasnt...lets say "commercially ready")...

However...All night long, the song I have attached was on the 3rd album we done in 2003 called "Checkmate". So yea...enjoy - I personally this song was ahead of its time and you can hear (hopefully) that by then, we had honed our skills to a mainstream level....my voice is deeper than it is now though...I think im happier now and so a brighter tone in my voice!!

Enjoy... and leave a comment

No more Classics?

Whats happening people,

Another LONG post but its something on my mind and I guess if I cant say it on my blog - where am I gonna say it?? There IS a song at the end of the rainbow though - enjoy!

So recently, I picked up Kanyes new album, Ndubz album, and Wretch 32s album (soon and eager to pick up Bashys!) all are excellent in there own ways but I dont think id put any of them down as CLASSIC albums like id put say a Michael Jackson "Off the Wall" or a Jay z "The Blueprint" or Raekwons "Only built for cuban linx". It got me thinking..."WHY NOT THOUGH? Has the era of classic albums faded? When was the last time you got an album - a new album that is, and BATTERED it and played it over and over for a couple months?" - for me its been a long time...but...why?

My conclusion is that first of all, hiphop is not dead - its not the quality of the music - people are still making amazing, thought provoking, reflective, emotional
music (in between all that click snap business") as Ive heard on the recent albums ive got. I blame Technology - two aspects ;
1. The Internet and Mp3s
2. The "Skip" function.

1. Mp3s.

I am THE original downloader - straight - ill admit it. Im an eager beaver and I wan hear things as quick as possible and so I download - DONT WORRY THOUGH - artists I like and especially alot of Uk artists, I WILL and DO go and buy the album after and just leave it jammin in my bedroom in the shrinkwrap (Cds are played (played out that is...seeing as cds can actually be played..) anyway!) - i got my ipod in the car - the purchase is purely for support - kanye understands this the most which is why he leaked like half his album as a free download and still has the number 1 album out - people including myself WILL buy regardless of downloading).

Ive been downloading from college - from around 1999 - I had 115kbps broadband with homechoice before most people had internet. But even with my relatively fast connection for those days, I had to leave my computer on overnight to get an 1 album which would take around 12 hours to download so when I got it, even for free, I would be appreciative of the time it took to get and listen to the WHOLE thing - however, I wouldnt appreciate it as much as an album that I went out and paid for.

Now though - people get 2mb broadband for FREE with they sky subscription and 10mb connections for change - every tom dick and susan knows how to use limewire at least (more advanced with torrents etc) and so you can get the song you saw in the hmv advert on the TV probably before xfactor comes back on - its ridiculous! (Im not complaining as an artist about sales - like i said, people will still buy - this is my observation though). And so the value you put on songs isnt the same as when you had to save your weekly money to go buy that single on TAPE cassette back in the day. PLUS the sheer volume of songs that everyone has these days means that you will move onto something else quite quickly, easily and for FREE!! songs/albums havent got the chance to be classic because your itunes library expands on a day to day basis. 20000 songs on something that can fit in your pocket!?!?!? surely the workings of a witch or wizard of somesort!

2. The "Skip" function.

With the invention of cds, we have been able to tap that little button and "skip" a track. You buy an album, put it in...hear something you dont like straight away....SKIP...another one....SKIP!!! With tapes (that you had to BUY) you couldnt skip so easily so you were forced to take the album in - listen to the whole thing - fwd and rwd is long on tapes and so you could sit down and listen to the entire tape and take in the album properly because as well as you aint getting another tape for a couple weeks/Internet, Mp3s, and Skip...or a lack thereof - THATS what i reckon made albums classic.

How many times have you slept on a song on an album you had - skipped past it even, then saw the video for it and realised the song is actually DECENT, went back and saw it jammin on that album you had there all along - its because you CANT SKIP music videos you were able to take the song in!!!

How many times have you DOWNLOADED an album - yes you! thought it was actually quite good, in fact very good...but then forgot about it quite quickly because you downloaded something new the next week.

I guess we need to try appreciate albums more and take time with them - I know I do. There are one or two exceptions that ill recognise - you can argue that "The Blueprint" was out in a cd skip function era - downloading wasnt so prominent but still around - also Robin Thickes "Evolution of robin thicke" I reckon is a classic which came out in the download era - one or two exceptions but maybe because ive paid more attention to them like I should to all albums...

I feel like putting out a 1 track album. Not one song...but one 60 minute track - you know like those mix cds you cant skip tracks with - then you'll be FORCED to listen to it all (put evil laugh here)...or not at all...could be quite annoying though - when you have your favourites and have to hold your finger down on the button till 45 minutes in! lol.

Anyway...Ive said FAAAR too much - just some food for thought...

I touch on this issue in a song I did an while back (more on the second verse: "He got gigabytes/so he aint listen right...)

Looney Tunes!

Quick post.

EXCLUSIVE MP3 from my upcoming mixtape. I didnt really wanna post this so im going to take it down in 48 hrs.Ive got my reasons for putting it up though.... basically, another well known artist (BASHY!) put up a song on his blog which is basically the same concept - his cd is coming out first so i dont want people to think that I took his idea - so im putting my version that i recorded last week up as a time stamp....i guess its just great minds think alike...

See if you can name all the characters - leave 'em as comments!!!

TIME UP - WAIT FOR THE MIXTAPE!

Off Hiatus from these haters!

Ok ok forgive me,

its been near a month since I last posted a blog...wow!! This may be a long one! Keep reading - Ive got some goodies later in this post!!

...in fact...im doing a is a WORLD EXCLUSIVE preview of my video which is coming out this year (god willing) in my next post...but read this first!!

Im sorry - gone through one or two bits but im good now - all is well and im back. Couple people been messaging me on the facebook or email to see "whats going on with u (me)" so I gotta say I appreciate every whos missed me!!

Its been soo long I dont even know where to begin - alot happens in a month!!! errr....ok...This past month, ive reevaluated and changed the plan so Im putting out a "Mixtape" (I hate that term but sometimes but...yea a mixtape) before the end of the year godwilling. The reason I dont like the term "Mixtape" is because most of the time these days, its a cop out term for a lazy album - an album with no expectation, no structure, no theme,no need for mastering or any sort of quality to the mix of the songs, and no original beats...

My mixtape (I hope) will be expected to be good, have some sort of structure, a loose theme, good quality mixes and (mostly) original beats - I think im not going to "finish" it intentionally, just to separate it from the album - but yea, ive got enough tracks to put a mixtape of original material out quite easily...so yea - thats the plan.

It will hopefully be fully packaged, distributed and will be lead by my upcoming "Release" video - so for all intents and purposes, some may call it an album...but ill cop out with the rest of them, get expectation off my back and call it a "Refined Mixtape" - hopefully in the same category as Sways first mixtape - or Bashys Chupa Chups mixtapes - both distributed widely...but still mixtapes... so yea.

I'll also have the album im doing with TE1 completed by the end of the year as well and will put that out early next year. Then comes my album next summer...so thats the new plan - putting it in writing and online means I gotta stick to it!

So to start with, last week ive sent out a double A side single which features two tracks that will be on the mixtape - Nothing Compares and In-Ci-Sive - both Produced by TE1. In-Ci-Sive is new so take a listen to that - Ive posted nothing compares before but ill put them both up here...let me know what u think!

(Remember - if it doesnt play when you click it, press pause, wait 10 secs, then play again)

LEAVE COMMENTS PEOPLE!!

P.S - Come back soon - got an EXCLUSIVE video for ya in the next 48 hours - keep checking back!

Confessions

Ok ok, this is not a completely original post - its inspired by Portia Frenos most recent post on her blog (shout out)....but its my own version so...these...are my confessions!

I LOVE to argue

I google almost every and anything (mostly to win arguments)

I can listen to the same song for the whole working day...over...and over again

Im scared of the thought of people never hearing my music

I taught myself how to play piano and guitar (kinda)

I dont like chocolate or chocolaty (is that a word) things (including chocolate bday cake - take note!)

I DO like kit kat though...

I drive a car that I thought about selling after the first week because I thought police would stop me even more than they stopped me in my last car...
(didnt sell it though!)

Im sensitive in general..and am aware of it...so I dont hold things back...if we got problems...you'll know about it within a couple hours...im quite up front...some say emosh lol
(shout out to nutty p in the cut!)

95% of the time, I dont use paper to write lyrics - i write on my computer or blackberry then memorise them for the booth
Sometimes I fear that I cant top songs that ive done in the past
(I always do eventually though...!)

Im not up to date with music most of the time because these days, I listen to my own stuff or other good uk artists...

And I think thats enough for now...im sure I can do this post again with more confessions...I think Ill leave you with a song I done a while ago...appropriate for this post seeing as ive let you into my life...Its called "come into my life"

Nice 1

P.s You know the drill - if it doesnt play straight off, pause for 10 secs then unpause...

New kid on the writers block..(AND new EXCLUSIVE song)

need to vent so this is a long one...

For those of you that dont know me, im VERY busy in the week - i work a regular 9-5, i do a part time youth work job two evenings a week (no i aint got kids to feed, i actually like doing youth work - giving back to the community and all that! - plus I teach a music studio course and younger people have got an energy in a studio that is inspirational to me sometimes...) ...anyway, juggling two jobs, trying to maintain some sort of social life means that im hardly ever at home or if i am, normally after 10 pm. oh yea, i freelance quite a bit as well - my 9-5 is as an I.t network manager so I go around to other offices and stuff when required and do bits as well..so thats like two and a half jobs lol...

OH yea, ive got this whole music career to squeeze in as well aint I!! how do I do it??? well...basically, I dont sleep....a

no...really, I actually sleep on average about 5 hours a night and drop to sleep at 2-3am. The problem is, I never have been able to force music on myself - it feels SO unnatural to me to write a song at a specific time - I can go and produce a beat on call which is why I can film all that and make youtube videos but you probably notice, you never see me record the song straight away and thats because, i like to let the verses "come to me"...sometimes ill record straight after I produce the song, yes, but ive gotta be in that zone..alone...even without a camera in my hand...sounds corny but its true.

Actually, the only time i can "force" a verse on queue is when im in the studio with another artist but that feels more natural because we are just vibing and im bouncing off his or her energy...but with most of my solo stuff, the verses are in my head by the time i get in the studio to record.

ANYWAY...back to the point, so yea, normally I write FULL verses at some ungodly hour in the morning, with the light off, and my headphones on, straight after a verse has "come to me". OR I write random bits (like half a verse or even two lines) on my blackberry throughout the day then finish them off later...

This method still works out for me as verses "come to me" often (sometimes annoyingly when im trying to sleep and i have to wake up and write them) so since I been working with the producer Te1 (http://www.myspace.com/te1productions) on a joint album, he can give me a track on a sunday (our studio day) and by the next sunday, all the verses and the chorus of the song (amongst other random verses) wouldve "come to me" so we've been consistently recording on a weekly basis on that project, as well as me recording myself at my house on my own project.

recently though, ive got like 4 specific songs that I need to write to (two that te1 made and two that ive made recently - one of which called just wait - the making of that beat is in this blog somewhere).

This week though, ive written plenty of random bits and even one verse for two of the four songs - i even wrote a song i havent got a beat for yet! but nothing i need to finish, has been finished!....and now its friday night, ive actually got time on my hands and i would LIKE to be able to write and maybe even record something at home but nope...nothing...and I refuse to force it....its quite frustrating though...and ive got a feeling the songs are gonna come to me when im back in the thick of my busy-ness...thats always how it is...

So....im stuck, waiting for these 4 specific songs to "come to me"....so...if anyones seen/heard from "my 4 songs", tell them ive got a warm roof and hot food waiting, so they should come home!!

ANYWAY heres a song by my fellow musical spa, SHAX, called "making good music" and its sorta sums up everything i say - its only 2:31 or something so listen to it ALL to get the whole picture...

p.s you know the deal - press play below, if it stutters or dont play, pause for 10 seconds then unpause...

P.P.S there seems to be some kinda confusion - this song is ALL shax - I only recorded and mixed it for him - Shax produced, rapped AND sang on it!

EXCLUSIVE SONG 4 YA!

Ok ok,

for my blog readers only, heres an EXCLUSIVE song - not even upped to my myspace yet (http://www.myspace.com/Incisive1 ) Its called nothing compares and for once, I didnt produce it - its produced by a talented producer called TE1 (http://www.myspace.com/te1productions) and I think it goes with what I was saying in my last post about nothing comparing to real music that hits you...enjoy

p.s The link for the song below this post, a little white bar - click it - if it does play or stutters, press pause, wait about 10 seconds, then unpause.

p.p.s - believe it or not, that is actually shax singing backing vocals on top of the track ("la la la nothing else can compare") so yea, shout out to shax!
