So as I mentioned before, im sending out my latest video single (video to be released early 2009) to radio djays.

Already, over a short space of 3 days, ive been real pleased with the feedback im getting from djays, the biggest of which was being contacted by BBC 1xtra to be :

2.the song being featured in their official homegrown podcast for the week AND
3. Doing a 1 minute interview to be played out as well.

Thats pretty good exposure and good support from the same station who championed my "Summertime" single this summer so shout out to 1xtra.

"InCiSive" Studio Vid!

'S Happening people!

Quick update on whats happening and a studio video at the bottom! : Im still working on the two mixtapes which are both one or two tracks from completion - and the album...

In more immediate news, I am starting to service (fancy word for "sending out to djays") my song "Release" on the buildup to the video release in January!!! (The song is on my myspace! Http://www.myspace.com/incisive1 ) so if you remember me when listening to radio, txt the dj and request Release by Incisive!

Ive been slippin with the blog posts I know but I dont like writing things without any content to post...maybe I should start though - its hard to keep up...

Anyway, here is a studio video of Myself, Shax and TE1 in the studio on the day I recorded a song called "InCiSive" produced by TE1...I warn u though - the video is 10 minutes!!!
I "cut" it to this length so (those who are interested...) can see what its like in the studio completely. So its mostly us just jammin, talking, bussin joke but all about our music with some EXCLUSIVE PREVIEWS in between.

If you are not really into the whole "studio video" thing - fwd to 7 minutes in to see the actual "Incisive" song recording... I just realised this is the FIRST video I have posted where you can see me actually laying down a verse...so yea...7 minutes in if anything...enjoy!

No more Classics?

Whats happening people,

Another LONG post but its something on my mind and I guess if I cant say it on my blog - where am I gonna say it?? There IS a song at the end of the rainbow though - enjoy!

So recently, I picked up Kanyes new album, Ndubz album, and Wretch 32s album (soon and eager to pick up Bashys!) all are excellent in there own ways but I dont think id put any of them down as CLASSIC albums like id put say a Michael Jackson "Off the Wall" or a Jay z "The Blueprint" or Raekwons "Only built for cuban linx". It got me thinking..."WHY NOT THOUGH? Has the era of classic albums faded? When was the last time you got an album - a new album that is, and BATTERED it and played it over and over for a couple months?" - for me its been a long time...but...why?

My conclusion is that first of all, hiphop is not dead - its not the quality of the music - people are still making amazing, thought provoking, reflective, emotional
music (in between all that click snap business") as Ive heard on the recent albums ive got. I blame Technology - two aspects ;
1. The Internet and Mp3s
2. The "Skip" function.

1. Mp3s.

I am THE original downloader - straight - ill admit it. Im an eager beaver and I wan hear things as quick as possible and so I download - DONT WORRY THOUGH - artists I like and especially alot of Uk artists, I WILL and DO go and buy the album after and just leave it jammin in my bedroom in the shrinkwrap (Cds are played (played out that is...seeing as cds can actually be played..) anyway!) - i got my ipod in the car - the purchase is purely for support - kanye understands this the most which is why he leaked like half his album as a free download and still has the number 1 album out - people including myself WILL buy regardless of downloading).

Ive been downloading from college - from around 1999 - I had 115kbps broadband with homechoice before most people had internet. But even with my relatively fast connection for those days, I had to leave my computer on overnight to get an 1 album which would take around 12 hours to download so when I got it, even for free, I would be appreciative of the time it took to get and listen to the WHOLE thing - however, I wouldnt appreciate it as much as an album that I went out and paid for.

Now though - people get 2mb broadband for FREE with they sky subscription and 10mb connections for change - every tom dick and susan knows how to use limewire at least (more advanced with torrents etc) and so you can get the song you saw in the hmv advert on the TV probably before xfactor comes back on - its ridiculous! (Im not complaining as an artist about sales - like i said, people will still buy - this is my observation though). And so the value you put on songs isnt the same as when you had to save your weekly money to go buy that single on TAPE cassette back in the day. PLUS the sheer volume of songs that everyone has these days means that you will move onto something else quite quickly, easily and for FREE!! songs/albums havent got the chance to be classic because your itunes library expands on a day to day basis. 20000 songs on something that can fit in your pocket!?!?!? surely the workings of a witch or wizard of somesort!

2. The "Skip" function.

With the invention of cds, we have been able to tap that little button and "skip" a track. You buy an album, put it in...hear something you dont like straight away....SKIP...another one....SKIP!!! With tapes (that you had to BUY) you couldnt skip so easily so you were forced to take the album in - listen to the whole thing - fwd and rwd is long on tapes and so you could sit down and listen to the entire tape and take in the album properly because as well as you aint getting another tape for a couple weeks/Internet, Mp3s, and Skip...or a lack thereof - THATS what i reckon made albums classic.

How many times have you slept on a song on an album you had - skipped past it even, then saw the video for it and realised the song is actually DECENT, went back and saw it jammin on that album you had there all along - its because you CANT SKIP music videos you were able to take the song in!!!

How many times have you DOWNLOADED an album - yes you! thought it was actually quite good, in fact very good...but then forgot about it quite quickly because you downloaded something new the next week.

I guess we need to try appreciate albums more and take time with them - I know I do. There are one or two exceptions that ill recognise - you can argue that "The Blueprint" was out in a cd skip function era - downloading wasnt so prominent but still around - also Robin Thickes "Evolution of robin thicke" I reckon is a classic which came out in the download era - one or two exceptions but maybe because ive paid more attention to them like I should to all albums...

I feel like putting out a 1 track album. Not one song...but one 60 minute track - you know like those mix cds you cant skip tracks with - then you'll be FORCED to listen to it all (put evil laugh here)...or not at all...could be quite annoying though - when you have your favourites and have to hold your finger down on the button till 45 minutes in! lol.

Anyway...Ive said FAAAR too much - just some food for thought...

I touch on this issue in a song I did an while back (more on the second verse: "He got gigabytes/so he aint listen right...)

99.2 fm on your Radioactive dial!

Ok so this isnt "music" related directly. More just regular life stuff...enjoy...

So my sister had to travel abroad for a week and has left me with her 13 yr old son,my nephew to look after. They live in norfolk so instead of a 5 minute drive to work,I now actually have to wake up very early to avoid the traffic on the a40 which is NUTS during rush hour.

So I wake up this EARLY morning - even the early birds are still sleeping and that...I get ready, make sure my nephew is ready for school then set down the a40 to work.

Im driving, listening to my tunes (yes, tunes by incisive - vanity!!) - all rapping along like they aint my tunes!! Eventually I get into a spot of traffic...

I look ahead, and there is a white transit van in front of me. Why does this regular, run of the mill ford transit van have a big RADIOACTIVE sticker on the back!!!?!?! What radioactive waste is in the back of this regular van?!!? dont they have reinforced vans with special compartments to carry this stuff round?!?! I felt like I was in the beginning one of those superhero films that you cuss because you are like "yea right, the super radioactive waste was just in a regular van on the roadside" - but LOOK - in front of me on the A40 - its there!!

SO...i turn down the music and think to myself "LONG!". Put my foot down and go to switch lanes. The dude switches lanes too...still in front of me..ok...so I switch back - true we in moving traffic though I cant really put my foot down and get out of radioactive harms way! Plus I can only switch lanes in a gap which Mr Radioactive driver happens to wanna take advantage of so its like we playing british bulldog on the motorway - everytime I try get past, the dude is swinging out his van in front of me! So instead of driving aggressively to overtake the radioactive vehicle, I jam behind him. Soon, we came to a stop in traffic and up closer, I could now see that next to the radioactive sign, was another sign:
"RADSQUAD - in the case of an incident - call us on 0845"...bla bla...

I HAD to take a pic to show ya! (Sorry - Blackberry pic quality isnt all that!)

Naaaa G this was that final destination meets radioactive man business. When I saw that, i put my foot down and blew off - cars all bibin me cause i swerved out but nar fam! I wasnt waiting around for the truck to crash in front of me and turn me into some mutant creature that the "Radsquad" have to hunt down...nar - not me famo!!!

I thought that was nuts though - is that normal?? - You ever seen a radioactive truck rolling on the roadside?!?!

Just thought id share that morning drama with ya!!! I had to take pics!! (Dont worry, i drive automatic!)

Here's the rest of the pics!!

Enjoy ur day!

Quick post.

EXCLUSIVE MP3 from my upcoming mixtape. I didnt really wanna post this so im going to take it down in 48 hrs.Ive got my reasons for putting it up though.... basically, another well known artist (BASHY!) put up a song on his blog which is basically the same concept - his cd is coming out first so i dont want people to think that I took his idea - so im putting my version that i recorded last week up as a time stamp....i guess its just great minds think alike...

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO TEASER!

As promised, an exclusive TEASER of my upcoming video...enjoy...remember - this song is available on itunes already. Incisive ft Shax - Release....

After u watch it u watch it, keep reading for an explanation of one or two things...

Incisive ft Shax: Release (Teaser) from Incisive on Vimeo.

A teaser is a teaser!! ;-). Now an explanation...

Alot of people wonder why I gave the song such a funny name - "Release". So ima explain.....

Basically, its about the emotion I was into when I wrote this song:

"Im just getting back to my yard
been on my feet, working WAY too hard
so ima listen to my ba be de boom, ba ba
yea ima listen to my ba be de boom, ba ba, tip-pit-tip-pit-ti-tay"

Thats where I started with this song - with the beat, and that chorus coming to me. And basically, that "Ba be de boom ba ba" represents music that I listen to....if you ask me how a certain song goes and I only know the beat and not the words, Ima replicate maybe the sound of the bassline, or the drums - "ba be de boom...."

So in the chorus, im saying, i been working all day, i just got home, ima sit down, listen to, and get lost in my music so that all that stress, and rushing round from a hard days work...I can just.....RELEASE...

Wow

A time for change is here.....

...history in the making...

Amazing...

Thats all ill say on that...

BACK TO THE BLOG....KEEP READING...

Tuesday 4 November 2008

Off Hiatus from these haters!

Ok ok forgive me,

its been near a month since I last posted a blog...wow!! This may be a long one! Keep reading - Ive got some goodies later in this post!!

...in fact...im doing a is a WORLD EXCLUSIVE preview of my video which is coming out this year (god willing) in my next post...but read this first!!

Im sorry - gone through one or two bits but im good now - all is well and im back. Couple people been messaging me on the facebook or email to see "whats going on with u (me)" so I gotta say I appreciate every whos missed me!!

Its been soo long I dont even know where to begin - alot happens in a month!!! errr....ok...This past month, ive reevaluated and changed the plan so Im putting out a "Mixtape" (I hate that term but sometimes but...yea a mixtape) before the end of the year godwilling. The reason I dont like the term "Mixtape" is because most of the time these days, its a cop out term for a lazy album - an album with no expectation, no structure, no theme,no need for mastering or any sort of quality to the mix of the songs, and no original beats...

My mixtape (I hope) will be expected to be good, have some sort of structure, a loose theme, good quality mixes and (mostly) original beats - I think im not going to "finish" it intentionally, just to separate it from the album - but yea, ive got enough tracks to put a mixtape of original material out quite easily...so yea - thats the plan.

It will hopefully be fully packaged, distributed and will be lead by my upcoming "Release" video - so for all intents and purposes, some may call it an album...but ill cop out with the rest of them, get expectation off my back and call it a "Refined Mixtape" - hopefully in the same category as Sways first mixtape - or Bashys Chupa Chups mixtapes - both distributed widely...but still mixtapes... so yea.

I'll also have the album im doing with TE1 completed by the end of the year as well and will put that out early next year. Then comes my album next summer...so thats the new plan - putting it in writing and online means I gotta stick to it!

So to start with, last week ive sent out a double A side single which features two tracks that will be on the mixtape - Nothing Compares and In-Ci-Sive - both Produced by TE1. In-Ci-Sive is new so take a listen to that - Ive posted nothing compares before but ill put them both up here...let me know what u think!

(Remember - if it doesnt play when you click it, press pause, wait 10 secs, then play again)

LEAVE COMMENTS PEOPLE!!

P.S - Come back soon - got an EXCLUSIVE video for ya in the next 48 hours - keep checking back!

Confessions

Ok ok, this is not a completely original post - its inspired by Portia Frenos most recent post on her blog (shout out)....but its my own version so...these...are my confessions!

I LOVE to argue

I google almost every and anything (mostly to win arguments)

I can listen to the same song for the whole working day...over...and over again

Im scared of the thought of people never hearing my music

I taught myself how to play piano and guitar (kinda)

I dont like chocolate or chocolaty (is that a word) things (including chocolate bday cake - take note!)

I DO like kit kat though...

I drive a car that I thought about selling after the first week because I thought police would stop me even more than they stopped me in my last car...
(didnt sell it though!)

Im sensitive in general..and am aware of it...so I dont hold things back...if we got problems...you'll know about it within a couple hours...im quite up front...some say emosh lol
(shout out to nutty p in the cut!)

95% of the time, I dont use paper to write lyrics - i write on my computer or blackberry then memorise them for the booth
Sometimes I fear that I cant top songs that ive done in the past
(I always do eventually though...!)

Im not up to date with music most of the time because these days, I listen to my own stuff or other good uk artists...

And I think thats enough for now...im sure I can do this post again with more confessions...I think Ill leave you with a song I done a while ago...appropriate for this post seeing as ive let you into my life...Its called "come into my life"

P.s You know the drill - if it doesnt play straight off, pause for 10 secs then unpause...

Tuesday 23 September 2008

The HEAT is on....

So ive been feeling out of character recently but im BACK and I think I know what its been...(totally unmusic related..but its me..)

Last week, monday, I woke up, regular routine, brushed my teeth, then turned on the tap in the bath, to fill up my bucket for my morning bath.

SIDENOTE: For those of you wondering, im old skool, so a bath to me means filling up a medium sized bucket (the type you use to say wash your car with - obviously mine is specifically for the bathroom), rubbing soap (or dove foam bath) to a small net type thingy to gather the lather (lol), scrubbing my body then rinsing myself by scooping water from this medium sized bucket with a smaller bucket that goes inside it. I do this several times, with several refills of the main bucket, then get out....all that shower business cant be done because i dont have a shower (and probably wouldnt use it even if i did) and filling up the ENTIRE bath for a "bubble bath" is something i do on special occasions, probably AFTER ive had my bucket bath (dont like the idea of JAMMIN in my dirty bath water for a half hour!)

so anyway, back to the point, so i turn on the hot tap to fill up my bucket (approx 80% hot water and 20% cold water mix!) and the hot water is on some JOKE TING!!...its still hot as normal, but there is NOOO pressure so its just trickling out of the tap..all teasing me...trickle trickle trickle....PISSED!! plus the cold water is fine....

So i call the water company who tell me that they provide cold water to the house, as long as that is working, there side is fine so the problem must be internal to my house - call a plumber.

Now if you read my last post, you know how busy my life can get so I really havent got time to be calling and waiting for a plumber, nor has my brother who I live with...

So basically, for the past week, Ive had to resort to the DOUBLE ol skool style of filling up my bath bucket with boiled water from the kettle, and going on some mad one and a half bucket ration (initially use kettle water to fill bucket, boil kettle again then take in bath with me for the refill)

I swear this new two bucket routine has sent my life upside down and Ive been grumpy
all week (or more grumpy than normal) - i mean, i normal use one bucket, just to splash on myself to wake up and now my whole joints is rationed to TWO buckets....

ANYWAY, woke up this morning, to get the trickle started while i boil the kettle, and BEHOLD, the water pressure is BACK....i swear i used like TEN buckets and now I feel GOOD!! all singing in the car on the way to work and all sorts... I know I shoulve called the plumber ages ago but I aint got time...anyway, lord knows what fixed the hot water pressure, but its back...and im back too!!!

New kid on the writers block..(AND new EXCLUSIVE song)

need to vent so this is a long one...

For those of you that dont know me, im VERY busy in the week - i work a regular 9-5, i do a part time youth work job two evenings a week (no i aint got kids to feed, i actually like doing youth work - giving back to the community and all that! - plus I teach a music studio course and younger people have got an energy in a studio that is inspirational to me sometimes...) ...anyway, juggling two jobs, trying to maintain some sort of social life means that im hardly ever at home or if i am, normally after 10 pm. oh yea, i freelance quite a bit as well - my 9-5 is as an I.t network manager so I go around to other offices and stuff when required and do bits as well..so thats like two and a half jobs lol...

OH yea, ive got this whole music career to squeeze in as well aint I!! how do I do it??? well...basically, I dont sleep....a

no...really, I actually sleep on average about 5 hours a night and drop to sleep at 2-3am. The problem is, I never have been able to force music on myself - it feels SO unnatural to me to write a song at a specific time - I can go and produce a beat on call which is why I can film all that and make youtube videos but you probably notice, you never see me record the song straight away and thats because, i like to let the verses "come to me"...sometimes ill record straight after I produce the song, yes, but ive gotta be in that zone..alone...even without a camera in my hand...sounds corny but its true.

Actually, the only time i can "force" a verse on queue is when im in the studio with another artist but that feels more natural because we are just vibing and im bouncing off his or her energy...but with most of my solo stuff, the verses are in my head by the time i get in the studio to record.

ANYWAY...back to the point, so yea, normally I write FULL verses at some ungodly hour in the morning, with the light off, and my headphones on, straight after a verse has "come to me". OR I write random bits (like half a verse or even two lines) on my blackberry throughout the day then finish them off later...

This method still works out for me as verses "come to me" often (sometimes annoyingly when im trying to sleep and i have to wake up and write them) so since I been working with the producer Te1 (http://www.myspace.com/te1productions) on a joint album, he can give me a track on a sunday (our studio day) and by the next sunday, all the verses and the chorus of the song (amongst other random verses) wouldve "come to me" so we've been consistently recording on a weekly basis on that project, as well as me recording myself at my house on my own project.

recently though, ive got like 4 specific songs that I need to write to (two that te1 made and two that ive made recently - one of which called just wait - the making of that beat is in this blog somewhere).

This week though, ive written plenty of random bits and even one verse for two of the four songs - i even wrote a song i havent got a beat for yet! but nothing i need to finish, has been finished!....and now its friday night, ive actually got time on my hands and i would LIKE to be able to write and maybe even record something at home but nope...nothing...and I refuse to force it....its quite frustrating though...and ive got a feeling the songs are gonna come to me when im back in the thick of my busy-ness...thats always how it is...

So....im stuck, waiting for these 4 specific songs to "come to me"....so...if anyones seen/heard from "my 4 songs", tell them ive got a warm roof and hot food waiting, so they should come home!!

ANYWAY heres a song by my fellow musical spa, SHAX, called "making good music" and its sorta sums up everything i say - its only 2:31 or something so listen to it ALL to get the whole picture...

p.s you know the deal - press play below, if it stutters or dont play, pause for 10 seconds then unpause...

P.P.S there seems to be some kinda confusion - this song is ALL shax - I only recorded and mixed it for him - Shax produced, rapped AND sang on it!

EXCLUSIVE SONG 4 YA!

Ok ok,

for my blog readers only, heres an EXCLUSIVE song - not even upped to my myspace yet (http://www.myspace.com/Incisive1 ) Its called nothing compares and for once, I didnt produce it - its produced by a talented producer called TE1 (http://www.myspace.com/te1productions) and I think it goes with what I was saying in my last post about nothing comparing to real music that hits you...enjoy

p.s The link for the song below this post, a little white bar - click it - if it does play or stutters, press pause, wait about 10 seconds, then unpause.

p.p.s - believe it or not, that is actually shax singing backing vocals on top of the track ("la la la nothing else can compare") so yea, shout out to shax!

Still Moving

Sup people,

I know things have slightly quitened down but I just want to let you know that im STILL MOVING regardless!!! Just sorting the gameplan for my next moves.

I went to a showcase by a very talented Artist I know - Kadija Kamara (http://www.myspace.com/kadijakamara) - last night. Who with a full live band delivered I think 11 mindblowing songs - it was real inspirational to see her up on stage, with such a polished show, doing her thing - Hearing peoples songs is one thing but nothing compares to seeing someone live - u see their heart in the music and all sorts.

One of the songs she done was called "Waiting to see" (on her myspace) and its about her striving to reach her goals in the music industry. I think that song touched me the most because I can relate with the struggles and perservirance (is that how u spell it!?!?) she sings about and I stood there and it was almost like she was singing to/about me...when a song makes you feel that way, I think thats when music comes into its own...

So yea, big shout out to Kadija on her show and also, A shoutout to an artist - Nadine Marissa Charles (Link to her blog on the right of the page) who I met through myspace, kept in contact with on facebook, and after 2 years, met last night for the first time at the show - very weird meeting long time "internet friends" in person!!! - After a while you start to put them in a 2d dimension of just text and pictures - so seeing an internet friend in 3d, moving and talking - its nuts!! I found myself just looking at her thinking to myself, "you're actually a real person" lol...

So yea, make sure you check both of there myspaces and blogs respectively...

Patience maybe not so much a virtue?

Sup people,

You may or may not have seen Wileys new song with the same name as the song I was gonna put out - "Summertime". He's video has just come out and he is releasing it 14th October. I think that the situation is funny as he has chosen to do EXACTLY what I tried to avoid - release a summer video after the summer ship had sailed... (watch then read more below)

Im guessing he shot his video mid summer too (i heard the tune couple times in july/august) and only got it back now BUT decided not to be as patient as I am and release it regardless lol. I do like the tune though - the video is not very "summery" but im guessing he had the same problems as me - no sun in England to really plan and shoot a summer video so skipped the sunny concept and ran with something else. I can only sit back and see how his video does now - im guessing he'll re release it next summer or the stations will run it again next summer...its got me second guessing myself though - maybe I shouldve let my video out even if I did miss the summer...

Its hard to say really - even if i do release it next summer and it does well, still cant say that releasing it now wouldve messed that up - one of those "shoulda, woulda, coulda, maybe" things...dont worry...ima be up soon...

Friday 29 August 2008

Ill just wait...(Studio session vid!)

Hey...

Ive got a new studio session video (for those interested - I know that wont be all of you!!) but before that...

Its official, ive withdrawn the summertime video from the tv stations I sent it to. Alot of politics that wasted valuable time and now summer has gone. Im quite disappointed with it all BUT ive still got my other video (which alot of you seem to like - thanks for the comments on the making of vid) and so I guess I gotta take a step back and come with a new strategy.

In the meantime, the music dont stop though!! I met up with shax last night for a little studio session and we came up with something quite appropriate for this whole blog so heres the studio session. I could only cut so much from the filming so it IS quite long so ive split it into two parts - if you dont want to watch it all - go to the end of part two to hear the final song we made.

Watch all the vid if you cant and Dont forget to leave a comment on this page (you can leave anonymous comments) OR my facebook group wall - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=17991897985

NEW VIDEO MAKING OF/PREVIEW

So, obviously....

I gotta keep it moving so Ive been working on new material (shout out to TE1!) and got a new video sorted...its in the FINAL FINAL editing stages now...not sure when im gonna release it because I wouldve have wanted it to be closer to my other video, summertime...

Anyhow...here's some behind the scenes footage of it filmed by shax who u can here talking at times - he had backing vocals on it (The song and i guess the making of video!) Its directed by a very talented director - Jamie Cox whos portfolio include Bashys Black boys (original) and kidulthood to adulthood music videos.
Enjoy!

The Songs called "Release" (Ill explain the abstract name another time)

Patience, Virtue...all of that stuff

Well obviously, as you know, its near the end of summer.....but more importantly, although its recieved regular airplay on several major radio stations, the video for summertime has not seen the proverbial light of day on music television stations....so boy....

Even though i shot the video July 2007 and held it back to get my timing right in 2008, circumstances beyond my control may actually mean that I need to fall back...AGAIN. I guess its my punishment for doing a seasonal song in this England (A rain song, of course would work....hmmmm....maybe ill get cracking on a new "Rainytime" song!)

Im very close to pulling the video out of the tv stations that Ive sent it too and falling back for now - this is all about timing and I feel like ive missed the boat again this year.

Patience....virtue....all of that stuff...

Dont cry for my argentina

Ima get there soon..!

Radio Play

Despite all the madness with the video (Read below!), Radio DJ's have taken well to "Summertime". Ive had reports that its played on several pirate stations, choice fm, but most frequently on 1xtra and Radio 1 (Yes, Radio 1!!) By Ras Kwame who LOVES the tune and has marked it as his "summer anthem" - So special shoutout to Ras Kwame who has reached out and is proper supporting my single...

(The Image above are a few screenshots of his playlist in the past 3 weeks - see if you can find my name)

Summertime (kinda) video

This has been the most tedious process EVER!!!

Here is the video for my debut single - Summertime.

Here's the story behind the video...(VERY LONG READ BUT YOU SHOULD READ TO UNDERSTAND WHATS HAPPENING AND WHY...)

We actually shot it July 2007 but last years summer was a washout (which is why its not a bait summertime video) and we got it back late august anyway so it was long to release it then..so I was patient and decided to release it 08 summer (this year).

Then in january, I decided to do another video to release BEFORE summertime to sorta get my name out there so that when summertime dropped, I was already kinda established so I wouldnt have problems getting it played as soon as I needed it played (summertime songs need to be played in the summertime...its all about timing).

HOWEVER, because of uncontrollable circumstances, I didnt get to shoot this new video until late april and then the editing ran all the way into july (the new video looks HEAVY by the way...just taking long to edit because alot of peops are doing favours)

This forced me though, to double BACK and just release summertime first because I couldnt risk timing it wrong and releasing summertime too late.

HOWEVER, when i sent it to channel u, I sent on a digi beta tape which they dont accept - it took them a couple weeks to email me back and tell me this....

The clock is ticking...

Sooo I had to get it put onto a mini DV.

I asked the people editing the new video to do this for me seeing as they had a copy of summertime in the studios already....

They informed me that my master tapes of the summertime are in NTSC (American) format and there machines cant copy them to PAL (English) format.

A good friend got it sorted a couple days later (summertime clock still ticking) to get converted at some other studios but when i got there (after working a 15 hour day), it was copied from Digi beta tape to the mini dv tape that I needed, only with a big NTSC sticker on it (STILL IN AMERICAN FORMAT!!! AHHHHHHHHH)

Clock still ticking....

Couple days later, another friend gets it to someone else to convert it and also takes it directly to channel U offices for me (Shout out to E!).

Two weeks later and after I return from Ayia napa, the video still isnt playing on air!?!?!

I contact channel U who inform me that when they viewed the tape....it was blank...

(Summertime clock still ticking...past the first week of august now!!)

So I go to the channel U offices, swap the tape with another copy only to find out that the supposed blank tape had the video on it - all they had to do was rewind the tape about 30 seconds!!!!

Which brings us to now....9th august and the summertime video STILL hasnt got airplay - should be on by next week but considering I waited a WHOLE YEAR to get my timing right, u can understand my frustration.

Sorry about the long post - just had to vent!!

Making of Stay Fly

Again, me and shax working together on a new song I produced.

We like to bounce ideas off each other as you will see....I was real pleased with the finished product - this is the road toward it - how the chorus developed etc...This is probably for my SECOND album...(not the one with summertime/release on it) or maybe even third album seeing as im working at two at a time at the moment - one with TE1 and one myself....

anyway....enjoy!!

Fine By You - Introducing Shax

I work quite alot with a young, VERY talented artist called shax - he's a vocalist and a producer. He done the backing vocals on my second single - release and was in the video - you'll see him in it when you see the vid (soon...soon...i promise!!)

Anyway, far from just a backing vocalist, he's an artist in himself...here's a track that I produced that he turned into a masterpiece if I do say so myself. This is the initial writing session - the final track has got Kadija Kamara on the second verse which is straight mind blowing...here's the writing session...enjoy!

"Release" Performance

Sorry - I know we are playing catchup for now but I got a bit to get through before we get to now.....

Heres a performance I done december 2007. It was just a little showcase put on by my cousin bliz. He's an artist too and now and then he puts on showcases where a few of us get together and perform to each other I guess to update each other on what we are doing - nice little nights.....here's my performance - the song is called release...its actually going to be my second single after summertime....enjoy..

Beatmaking august 07 sample tune

This, again, is an oldie but a goody. Its a LONG arse video though so i guess you should only watch it if you are really interested in the whole beatmaking process - i go through it step by step - this is a sampled song though - recent events have shown me that samples in this country are LOOOOOOOOOOONGGG.

I guess them americans use them because they got record companies behind them who will deal with clearance etc - I tried getting sample clearance once with a song called come into my life (may post later) - was the longest and most tedious process of my life and I still ended up without clearance because they wanted 100% profits of the single!!! Imagine that....

Anyway...back to the video...enjoy....

Welcome

So I thought id start this blog thing....welcome to everyone

07 Freestyle

This is an oldie but a goodie....See if you can keep up with the count....
